I am making an AIR/Android project. I have a SWC made in Flash CS5 (and I tried in CS4 too) that I am putting in the lib folder of my project, to get Flash assets from. The first time I open the project and compile it from a clean build, it all works fine. If I make a change to any code, and try to recompile (even if I say to do a clean compile), FDT comes up with:

Could not create file C:\Users\Jonathan\workspace\SimpleSimApp\bin\SimpleSimApp.swf.
Build failed.

with no other information. For awhile, I went back into Flash and re-created the assets, then it seemed to work on multiple compiles. Now I'm at a point where it is not working beyond the first build. Can you suggest anything?

I forgot to mention...here is the whole output when it results in the error:

Starting Launcher SimpleSimApp Desktop.

Starting Incremental Build of SimpleSimApp Desktop.
INFO Loading configuration file C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.5\sdks\4.5.1\frameworks\air-config.xml

Could not create file C:\Users\Jonathan\workspace\SimpleSimApp\bin\SimpleSimApp.swf.
Build failed.

Even when I tell it to clean the project, it always goes to "Starting Incremental Build"...whereas when I first start FDT, it is doing a "Full Build". I can't find out where I can force it to do a Full Build after the first compile.

Sorry for all these comments, but one thing I have noticed. Sometimes if I rebuild the SWC file in Flash, or I change something in the Flash assets I have placed there, this problem goes away (I can recompile even after changes).

One more thing I notice, now that it is happening more frequently, and me manipulating things in the SWC no longer is working (so I'm getting stuck with having to re-open FDT each time I make a change now). When it starts the build normally, FDT says the number of files that have changed. When it fails to build, FDT doesn't output anything about finding files that have changed.

I switched Flex SDK's (from 4.5.1 to 4.5.0) and the problem has been resolved so far, I don't know if it will come back. I'm going to try 4.6.

Jonathan,

thanks for all your feedback!

Unfortunately I can not reproduce this issue. Do you have a hello world .swc that I can use to reproduce it?

regarding the full build: on the top left of the toolbar theres a almost black icon to reset the compiler and force a full compile. There is also a button to do so in every launcher.

regards,

Philipp
